2024 NCAA Tournament Predictions: Which Team Will Win the Championship Ahead of the Final Four?
It’s been a wild year in college basketball. With the transfer portal and NIL taking off, there were more changes to the sport than we’ve ever seen. Luckily, the NCAA Tournament has yet to expand or change anything. This weekend, we are blessed with two great Final Four matchups before we crown a champion on Monday night. Out of the four teams remaining, which has the best chance to take home the trophy?

If you look at the odds pre-Final Four to win the tournament, you’ll see UConn getting an insane amount of respect. The Huskies are (-195) to win the National Championship with only two games remaining. This respect makes sense considering they are the defending champions and have looked nearly unbeatable up to this point. Purdue is getting some respect as well, but not like the Huskies. The Boilermakers are currently (+205) to win the tournament. It’s looking like it’s going to be one of these two #1 seeds celebrating in Phoenix on Monday…
2023 was the year of craziness in the tournament with FAU making it to the Final Four and San Diego State losing in the championship. The public is expecting (or hoping for) another big upset in the Final Four, but I’m not seeing it. If anything, I think the Alabama/UConn game will be closer than the NCST/Purdue matchup. The amount of disrespect Zach Edey and the Boilermakers have gotten because they aren’t as flashy or exciting as the other remaining teams is uncalled for. In my opinion, this could finally be the year Purdue does something in March.
It’s going to be UConn looking to defend last year’s championship against Purdue, the least popular team remaining in the tournament, on Monday. Once we get to that matchup, I not only think Purdue will compete with UConn, but they will find a way to break their curse and finally win a National Championship. They are beyond due to break the seal and finally hang their first banner in the rafters. It’s nearly impossible to repeat and win this tournament two years in a row, and although the Huskies have the talent to do it, this just feels like Purdue’s year.
I am going to play Purdue to win the National Championship at (+205). I’m buying-in to the least-liked #1 seed in recent history. The public is done watching Zach Edey make layups to carry this team through the tournament, but it’s been working. They finally have enough guard depth this season to compete if Edey gets in foul trouble or is inefficient early on. UConn already got their National Championship; this year, it’s Purdue’s turn to celebrate.
