Portland Trail Blazers vs. Charlotte Hornets Prediction

The Hornets enter this game as one of the worst teams in basketball. They are just 9-24 on the season as We approach the new year. This is a surprise to many as the Hornets came into the year seen as a team slated to make the playoffs or minimum at least make the play-in tournament. This is a team that has a lot of talent on its roster, but they have not been able to string wins together.

They did start the year without star guard Lamelo Ball. Ball is the heart and soul of this team, and when he is on the court, this is a much better team. The Hornets dug themselves quite a hole in the absence of Ball. They are hopeful that with his return, the team can turn things around, as it is still somewhat early in the year.

Portland, on the flip side of things, has had a pretty good year so far. This was a team that many thought would not be a playoff team, but they silenced the critics early in the year. Portland sits at 17-16, which is good for ninth in the West. 

I am looking at a player prop tonight. I am backing Gordon Hayward to score over 15.5 points. This feels like a great buy-low spot on Hayward. Gordon has eased back into action over the last week, and he has struggled against this number so far. Hayward has gone over this number just once in his last five games since returning from injury. In two of those games, he landed on fifteen exactly.

His usage will keep going up every game, and he is currently seeing around thirty-three minutes per game. This is a game that there will not be a whole lot of defense, and I expect him to clear this number tonight in a good matchup.
