San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets Prediction: Can Sean Manaea, Mets Keep Rolling?

Sean Manaea has improved his game significantly since a couple horrid seasons on the Giants and Padres. He was pitching great against the Phillies in the London Series until a stretch of six consecutive hits knocked him out of the game. Will Manaea bounce back after his worst start of the season against his former team on Friday?

Padres vs. Mets Date, Time, and Where to Watch

  • Where to Watch: SNY, MLB Extra Innings

San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets Prediction

If there’s one narrative I like backing in baseball, it’s a starting pitcher facing his former team. Manaea had the worst season of his career for the Padres in 2022. I’m sure it would feel good for him to shut down his former team that he struggled mightily on, especially at home. Luckily or Manaea, the Padres are one of the worst teams in baseball when facing left-handed pitching.

Matt Waldron has pitched great recently, giving up one or less runs in four of his last five starts. How long can this legacy stretch for the knuckleballer continue? Waldron has pitched great on the road so far this season, but the Mets are starting to get hot offensively. It’s only a matter of time before the right-handed knuckleballer gets roughed up, and as the moneyline odds move to a Pick ‘Em, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s today.

Considering how well Waldron has pitched and the fact that Manaea is coming off the worst start of his season, it’s weird seeing the Mets catch steam on the moneyline. The Mets are the nastiest, most contrarian play on the MLB slate. That’s the side I want to be on. Fade the public and back the Mets on the moneyline this Friday; let’s get the weekend started off right with a nasty MLB winner.
