New York Mets vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction: Can Kyle Schwarber Deliver Against Jose Quintana?

The Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets face off for the final game in their four-game series. Jose Quintana is on the mound today for the Mets and I don’t think he’s going to have much success against the Phillies.

New York Mets vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction

Quintana has allowed a .308 batting average to lefties on the road this season which includes a 3.00 home run per nine innings rate. He has allowed four, eight, one, and five runs in his last four starts and his metrics are not good this year thus far:

  • Fourth percentile in xERA (expected ERA)
  • Second percentile in xBA (expected batting average)
  • Ninth percentile in Whiff%
  • 33rd Percentile in BB% (walk percentage)

Kyle Schwarber on the other hand has been hitting lefties very well. He has a .333 batting average and .436 on base percentage against them this season. Quintana will throw him a lot of sinkers which he’s hitting .625 against this season (against lefties). He has a run in 12 of the last 15 starts and seven of the last eight at home.

Bryce Harper has been swinging a hot bat as of late so if Schwarber gets on base, I think he finds his way around the bases.

(PHI) Kyle Schwarber to Record a Run (-115 @ Bet365) (1.15 Units)
