The Nationals travel to Chicago to take on the White Sox on Monday night. Will the bats get to Trevor Williams and Chris Flexen tonight? Krabs answers.

Washington Nationals vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction: Will the Bats Get to Trevor Williams, Chris Flexen?

Trevor Williams has been unbelievable this season. After putting up a 5.55 ERA in 30 appearances with the Nats last year, Williams has yet to record a loss in 2024. Will he continue to deal against the White Sox on Monday night?

Washington Nationals vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction

Before yesterday’s 7-0 loss, the White Sox had won four games in a row. Their offense has finally come to life over the past week or so. After a solid start to their homestand, who’s to say the White Sox can’t keep the bats alive on Monday night as they welcome in the Nationals for a three game series?

Chris Flexen will be on the bump for the White Sox on Monday. He’s honestly pitched great in his last five outings for Chicago, only giving up four earned runs in those starts combined. We’ve seen this movie before with Flexen, though. He’s shown signs of greatness in the past, but he’s never been able to put it all together for more than a month.

I’m fully expecting a highly-motivated Nats team, coming off back-to-back losses in games they should’ve won, to show up on Monday. This team has played better on the road for the last couple of seasons, and although they were “lefty killers” last season, they actually have much better splits against right-handers in 2024. It’s only a matter of time before Chris Flexen gets lit up again, and tonight’s matchup against the scrappy Nats on the road isn’t ideal for the veteran righty.

Considering how poorly both offenses looked yesterday, it’s interesting to see the total for this game on the rise. It’s starting to look like Trevor Williams and Chris Flexen will be returning to their 2023 form with this total up to 8.5. The Nationals lineup has CJ Abrams hitting leadoff again (where he’s found the most success) and the hottest hitter in baseball Eddie Rosario finally hitting in the three-hole. With both starting pitchers due for a blow-up start, bet the over in the Southside tonight; I’ll meet you at the cash counter.
