US Election Odds: Donald Trump backed to win first debate despite Joe Biden being the betting favorite

It’s going to be a very busy week in the world of US election betting, with wagers expected to ramp up around the first US election debate tomorrow night. The first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden is set to take place tomorrow night at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

The debate is scheduled to start at 9pm ET, and will be moderated by Chris Wallace. For people not used to election debates, the debate will go on for 90 minutes, and will be split into 15-minute segments on six different topics picked by Chris Wallace.

First US Presidential Election Debate Odds

The first US presidential election debate odds opened up back in August, and despite Joe Biden being the marginal favorite, the betting market was pretty easy.

However, since the marketing opened, Donald Trump’s first US Presidential election odds have since drifted pretty rapidly. The current President’s odds were 6/5 (+120) which implied he had a 45.5% chance of winning the first debate in Ohio. However, over the last month his odds have grown to 2/1 (+200), which implies he now has 33.3% chance.

As you’d expect, Joe Biden’s first US presidential election odds have moved the opposite way in the same time period. His odds opened up at 8/13 (-162) which implied he had a 61.9% chance. However, his odds have narrowed to 4/11 (-275) and now imply he has a 73.3% chance.
