Rory McIlroy is heating up at the perfect time to attempt securing another major win at Valhalla this week.

The star golfer from Northern Ireland has won back-to-back events entering the 2024 PGA Championship, earning a team victory with Shane Lowry during the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, followed by his late comeback win over Xander Schauffele at the Wells Fargo Championship. It's his fourth win at Quail Hollow, so expect McIlroy to attempt to capture another win at Valhalla, where he recorded a PGA Championship win in 2014.

In fact, 2014 was the last major win McIlroy has on his resumé. He's added a bunch of wins since then, but none at majors. A T22 at Augusta National during The Masters was a modest showing a few weeks ago, but now, McIlroy is fully riding momentum and has a ton of confidence heading back to Valhalla to attempt a third consecutive win.

RORY MCILROY PGA CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS: WINNER +750 (BET $100 TO COLLECT $850)

It's extremely tempting to hammer McIlroy's odds to win at +750. He's playing the best golf since 2024 began, striping it off of the tee with a powerful driver, while also ranking 53rd strokes gained on approach.

Valhalla was the site of his last major win a decade ago, so he'll be in his element on this lengthy par 71 course. The putter and irons are the variables in play that determine whether or not McIlroy can extend his winning streak to three events.

The return of Scottie Scheffler definitely complicates things from an outright winner perspective. However, McIlroy's confidence is soaring and he's built to contend at a course like Valhalla.

Oddsmakers remain bullish on McIlroy to perform well at Valhalla this week, giving him +175 odds to record a top-five finish. Keep in mind, prior to this two-event stretch of wins, we have only seen one other top-five finish from McIlroy this season, recording a T3 finish at the Valero Texas Open.

Only Scheffler has shorter odds than McIlroy to wind up finishing in the top-five on the PGA Championship leaderboard. It's been 10 years since his last major, which came at this venue, so expect McIlroy to be dialed in early on with his driver and irons. The putter can be good at times but it's the consistency that's missing right now.

This feels like the betting market to target for McIlroy's finishing position props. A top-ten finish at -115 odds isn't too short to pass up.

Yes, he's only had one other top-ten finish outside of his two recent wins, a T3 at Valero, but it's much harder to wind up in the top-five at a major event. McIlroy has three top-ten finishes in three of the last five PGA Championships played, going T8, T33, T49, 8th, and T7 at Oak Hill C.C. in 2023.
