New York City FC vs. Philadelphia Union Prediction and Picks

When:  Sunday, November 7, 4.30 pm ET

Where: Yankee Stadium, Bronx, NY

NYCFC vs. Philadelphia Union Odds

New York City FC and the Philadelphia Union are not among the teams scrambling to secure their place in the 2021 Major League Soccer playoffs, but this fixture at Yankee Stadium on Sunday will still mean a lot for both teams. This could be one of the most compelling matches in the division this weekend.

Of course, there is the rivalry element with the two sides on the East coast, but Jim Curtin and Ronny Deila will also want their teams to build momentum ahead of the post-season, which is just around the corner. So here are some tips and information ahead of the MLS fixture between New York City FC and the Philadelphia Union.

NYCFC vs. Philadelphia Union Prediction

Not so long ago, it appeared NYC FC was losing form at the wrong time. However, Deila’s team has since rediscovered their groove - they have won their last three games against DC United, Chicago Fire, and Inter Miami. This, however, will be a tougher test for the Bronx side against a team two places above them in the Eastern Conference.

On top of this, New York City FC has kept a clean sheet in five of their last seven home matches. Deila’s side has genuine quality. A victory over Philadelphia Union to draw level with Curtin’s team would underline their standing in the Eastern Conference and how they will be a force to be reckoned with in the play-offs.

The Union’s recent form hasn’t been so bad either, with two wins and a draw from their last three matches. However, while Philadelphia is strongest at home - they have the best home record in the Eastern Conference - they also boast the third strongest away record in the East, so NYC FC will have to be wary of the visitors on Sunday.

Over 2.5 total goals have been scored in six of the Philadelphia Union’s last seven away games in the league, while they have also found the net at least twice in the last four away matches. This fixture could swing either way and could tell us a lot about the direction these two teams are heading in at a crucial point of the season.

NYCFC vs. Philadelphia Union Picks

  • 0.5u - Philadelphia Union Winner (+360)
  • 2u - Over 2.5 Total Goals (-145)
