Vancouver Canucks vs. Nashville Predators Prediction: Can Filip Forsberg, Predators Take Game 6 Tonight?

The Nashville Predators have fought hard in this series and were able to avoid elimination on the road in Vancouver on Wednesday to force a Game 6 back at home tonight in Nashville. After being down 3-1 in the series, the Predators are just a win away from forcing a Game 7 back in Vancouver. the Predators are favored once again, although not by much at -120 odds.

Vancouver Canucks vs. Nashville Predators Game 6 Prediction

The story of the series so far is Filip Forsberg and the Predators losing back-to-back at home to fall down 1-3. Game 4 was the ultimate collapse when the Predators had a 3-1 lead with under two minutes to go in the third period and somehow allowed the Canucks to tie it. The Canucks went on to win it very shortly into the overtime period.

Outside of that very late collapse from the Predators in Game 4, Juuse Saros has had an excellent series. The Predators' defense has kept the Canucks from getting too many shots on goal, but Saros has given up one goal in two games of the series and two goals in a game as well. On the season, Saros has a 90.6% save percentage and just 2.8 goals allowed per game. The former All-Star is the best option for the Predators and he has done very well on his home ice this year.

The Canucks will still be without starting goalie Thatcher Demko and also backup Casey DeSmith. That leaves third-stringer Arturs Silovs in net for the Canucks. While Silovs has done pretty well in his two starts for the Canucks in this series, the more the Predators see of him the more I worry. A guy without much experience in the NHL like Silovs will probably not fare well in his third straight start in the postseason. He only has nine games played in the NHL and has not seen a lot of action at the highest level. I think we can chalk his first two starts up to a little bit of beginner's luck, and I expect the Predators to break through on him tonight, and put up some goals on the backup.

The Predators dropped both games at home in this series so far and I do not see them dropping their third in a row at home. They got a lot of momentum by winning in Vancouver on Wednesday in an elimination game and I think they carry that momentum into tonight‘s game. We are getting a decent line on the Predators because they are down in this series, but they have out-skated the Canucks for most of it. Their defense has been some of the best we’ve seen in the postseason so far. Back to Predators to force Game 7 tonight.
