The Memorial Tournament Longshot Picks

Geoff Fienberg: Adam Scott (+5500) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

Adam Scott is starting to gain on his approaches like we're familiar with. Adam Scott is gaining strokes putting week in and week out. We now head to Muirfield Village, which has always favored Scott's iron play, with a T2 and 3 other top-5 finishes on the famed Muirfield Village layout. Scott had my eye immediately this week as his recent iron play and one of the most consistent putting stretches of his career have him lined up well.

In a year in which we've already seen Jason Day and Justin Rose find the winner's circle, the next man from our 2015 favorites to bring home a trophy is going to be Adam Scott

Rick Gehman: Denny McCarthy (+9000) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

The putting specialist is no longer reliant on his flatstick for great results. He's improving weekly from tee to green but hasn't lost that magic on the putting surfaces. He earned a T29 at the PGA Championship, T8 at the Wells Fargo Championship and T25 at the RBC Heritage -- all massive events with deep fields. Now he'll look to match (or improve) on his T5 at the Memorial from last year.

Andy Lack: Shane Lowry (+5500) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

I continue to back Shane Lowry on a nearly weekly basis in hopes that the former Open champion can finally get the putter going. His ball striking is good enough to win tournaments over the best in the world, and he is coming off a performance at the PGA Championship where he gained 3.7 strokes off the tee and 5.5 strokes on approach. Even the putting looked better for the Northern Irishman at Oak Hill. Now Lowry returns to a golf course where he has a strong track record of success, and I have high expectations for him this week at Jack’s place.

Bradley Todd: Adam Scott (+5500) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

It's been over a year since Adam Scott has missed a cut. Twenty-three consecutive made cuts is some going and recently he's stepped it up a notch. Scott finished tied 5th at the Wells Fargo and 8th at the Byron Nelson before a respectable 29th at the PGA Championship. He hit the ball superbly at Oak Hill gaining over three strokes off the tee and on approach. The driver has always been the biggest weapon in his bag and it looks back to its best at the moment. Scott has gained at least one stroke off the tee in his last eight starts. Muirfield Village is a long, tough, classical layout that Adam has had some success on over the years. He has been inside the top-5 on four occasions and came closest to winning it in 2019, finishing runner-up to Patrick Cantlay. It's a great course for him, this is exactly the type of test Adam Scott wants. The game has been consistently good for some time and I'm confident he still has the ability to win an event of this caliber.

Sam Eaton: Wyndham Clark (+6600) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

With Clark being the pick you might think this is a bomber's paradise, however, it’s Clark’s approach play that has stolen the show. He missed the cut at the PGA Championship when he was many people's pick to cause an upset.

Clark still gained on approach at the PGA, and he has gained 4 strokes on average against this field in his last five events.

In the last three months, he stacks up third in my model. He’s 2nd in SG Approach, 10th SB Ball Striking and in the top 20 for San Saves, Prox 175-200, GIRs Gained, and Par-5 scoring.

Tom Jacobs: Harris English (+15000) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

Harris English has been a popular bet in recent weeks and was even considered a sneaky bet for the PGA Championship, and that made all the sense in the world given his recent efforts in major championships.

Despite his recent popularity and his great form, English can still bet at +15000 for the Memorial Tournament, which is quite frankly ridiculous.

English probably should have won last week at Colonial, as he was right there ready to pounce if both Harry Hall and Adam Schenk failed to convert their 54-hole lead. It wasn't to be for English though, who took himself out of the running early and finished T12.

That T12 finish is still a strong effort and when you add that to his T12 finish at Riviera, T2 finish at Bay Hill and his T3 at Quail Hollow, it is clear English has turned the corner again in 2023.

I will be the first to admit that his lack of distance off the tee could hinder him in spots here, but history suggests you can win here despite a lack of pop with the driver, and considering English has finished 13th and 18th in the past, I think it is foolish to write him off at such a big number!
