This week, we follow up The Masters with the RBC Heritage as our next stop on the PGA Tour. Looking for an RBC Heritage longshot pick? Well, you've come to the right place. Our team of golf handicappers gives us their favorite pick at odds of +3500 or longer.
ANALYSIS

RBC Heritage Expert Picks: Our Experts' Longshot Picks

The Masters came and went and we didn't get a longshot winner. As a matter of fact, it was the favorite, Jon Rahm, that pulled away down the stretch and got his green jacket. But, we're back this week with our team of experts looking for an RBC Heritage longshot pick to make us some money.

Geoff Fienberg, Rick Gehman, Andy Lack, Brian Kirschner, Sam Eaton, Bradley Todd and Tom Jacobs all pick their favorite RBC Heritage longshot and tell us why we should be betting on them this week on the PGA Tour.

This week's longshots start as short as +4000 and get as long as Rick Gehman's +18000 prayer!

So, before you make your RBC Heritage picks this week, make sure you see which longshot picks our team of experts think are worth backing.

RBC Heritage Longshot Picks

Geoff Fienberg: JT Poston (+7000) (Bet $100 to collect $7,100)

Longshots for an elevated event can feel like a bit of a pit but I'm pretty hopeful for JT Poston this week. In the middle of some solid form, he brings his game to a place where he sports some fantastic recent finishes (6,3, MC, 8) not surprising since his game is an ideal course fit for Harbor Town. While the elevated event status is likely to throw us a change of pace, it is Poston who perfectly fits the mold of past champions

Rick Gehman: Ben Martin (+18000) (Bet $100 to collect $18,100)

Statistically speaking, Martin is the "hottest" player in the field over the last 36 rounds. He's gaining 0.81 strokes to his 100-round baseline, which is a bigger improvement than any other player can boast. Those gains have turned into results -- earning (4) Top 15 finishes in his last six starts. This will be his 9th trip to this event, so he has plenty of experience he can rely on this week.

Andy Lack: Adam Hadwin (+17500) (Bet $100 to collect $17,600)

There’s a lot to like about Adam Hadwin this week and I simply believe his outright number is too high. He’s one of the most accurate drivers of the ball in this field on shorter courses, and he already boasts two top-15 finishes this year at elevated events, including the Players Championship, another short, positional Pete Dye track.

Brian Kirschner: Sahith Theegala (+6600) (Bet $100 to collect $6,700)

Theegala is a top 20 golfer in the world the way he has performed this year and should be nowhere near this number in the outright market. Winless on the PGA Tour, Theegala has had a lot of close calls and is bound to break through on the PGA tour soon.

Coming off a solo ninth-place finish at his first Masters appearance, no one is doubting his game or ability to contend in big events. This Pepperdine graduate was able to gain strokes in all four major categories. Theegala has also had an excellent start to 2023. 4th at The Farmers, T6 at Genesis, and T14 at the API, it is clear that he has elevated his game in big events.

Sam Eaton: Si Woo Kim +6600 (Bet $100 to collect $6,700)

Take a risk on Si Woo Kim this week despite some putting concerns. Approach play, and in particular 150+ shots, are the key to success at RBC Heritage.

In the last three months, Si Woo ranks 10th in this field Prox 175-200 and 9th Prox 150-175. Kim's also 21st in terms of fairways gained. His putter has been cold but can get hot on these surfaces.

Well worth risking at this price. He finished 2nd in his event in 2018, and has one other top-15 finish to his name. Ben Martin at +15000 was the alternate.

Bradley Todd: Cam Davis (+12500) (Bet $100 to collect $12,600)

Cam Davis had a rough start to the year, feeling unwell for the first couple of months, which prevented him from practicing. This was reflected in his results, where he missed 5 consecutive cuts.

This bad run of form came to end at The Players Championship, where he was 3rd going into Sunday before a final-round 74 slipped him down to 6th. He confirmed in an interview he was back feeling healthy and that it's been a frustrating period for him. Cam built on that performance at the Match play, winning two out of three matches, narrowly missing out on progressing after losing to Xander Schauffele.

Last time out at the Texas Open, he opened with a round of 80 but responded well with a round of 66. There have been a lot of positives the last month and he now returns to Harbour Town, a course that most certainly suits his game.

In 2021 he finished 25th on debut and last year he closed with a round of 63 to finish 3rd. Cam has shown a liking to short, positional courses in the past, with top-ten finishes at Colonial and Wailae Country Club. Also, his recent performances on Pete Dye-designed TPC Sawgrass and Austin Country Club catch the eye. He looks like a juicy longshot option for this week.

Tom Jacobs: Sam Burns +4000 (Bet $100 to collect $4,100)

I understand this is another elevated and the best in the world are here (barring Rory McIlroy) but I don’t think this is like other elevated events, and I think there is an advantage to those that avoided the heat of the battle last week at Augusta.

Step forward, Sam Burns.

Sam Burns recently finished 6th at the Valspar Championship and then won the WGC Match Play.

Sure we can say the Valspar is somewhere he was won twice in a row and the match play comes with its own quirks, but when you add in that he was 6th at the halfway point last week at The Masters before a rough weekend in the bad weather, I think it’s fair to say he’s in form.

On his RBC Heritage debut, he finished 9th and was never more than four shots back from the leader, so he’s more than capable of contending on this layout, especially when in form.

Given he’s got a win, a 6th and a strong enough at Augusta under his belt in his past three starts, I think Burns is in good enough form to win this event, even in this company.

At his best, I think he’s capable of beating the big three, but with one of them withdrawing and one coming into the event as the latest Masters champion, the biggest win of his life, and after playing 30 holes on Sunday, I feel much more confident in taking Burns here. That does still leave Scheffler but I think he was involved on Sunday at Augusta to come into this with a hangover as well.

Simply put, Burns is better than 40-1, can win, and looks a good value play in this longshot category.
