Everything you need to know about this week’s PGA Tour stop, the Workday Charity Open at Muirfield Golf Club
ANALYSIS

This week’s stop on the PGA Tour is the Workday Charity Open at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. The course is founded by Jack Nicklaus and named after where The Golden Bear won his first ever British Open. This week’s favorite is the world’s No. 5 ranked golfer in Justin Thomas (+1200).

Thomas has played six events here with mixed results. He has two top-10 finishes but has also failed to make the cut three times, including last year’s Memorial Tournament.

Our handicapper Brian Good is back this week with two betting picks and two picks for your DFS lineup. Read below for all the information you’ll need to make this weekend’s Workday Charity Open a profitable one.

Where is the 2020 Workday Charity Open?

Muirfield Village Golf Club, Par 72

First Tee: Thursday, July 9, 6:50 a.m. ET

Field: 156 Players

What can we expect of Muirfield Village Golf Club? What attributes do the players need?

Muirfield Village GC is a course that rewards accuracy off the tee. The fairways are often lined with trees, streams and bunkers that will need to be avoided. The course is also known for relatively quick greens and plays at 7,392 yards.

Workday Charity Open – Betting Picks

Handicapper Brian Good provides his betting picks for the week:

Hideki Matsuyama (+1700) – Click Here to Bet

Matsuyama is still waiting for his first Tour win of the season, but he played great golf last weekend and finished T-21. He has a win at this course in 2014 and has racked up three top-6 finishes at Muirfield Village GC. He’s hitting 71.64% of greens in regulation and averaging 4.35 birdies, both of which rank 13th on Tour. He’s been bombing it off the tee, and if he can pick up his driving accuracy this week I like his chances to compete for a win.

Justin Rose (+2600) – Click Here to Bet

It’s been an up-and-down season so far for Justin Rose, but he’s always played Muirfield well and I expect him to continue that trend this weekend. Rose finished T-3 at the Charles Schwab Challenge and T-14 at the RBC Heritage before missing the Travelers Championship cut and skipping last week’s event. He has a win, seven top-10 finishes and is the second all-time in earnings at this course. I’m banking on him getting back into his Charles Schwab Challenege form on a course he likes to play.

Wagered on the 2020 Masters yet? Last week’s winner, Bryson DeChambeau, is now the second favorite this year at Augusta National.

Workday Charity Open- Daily Fantasy Picks

Two guys to add to your DFS lineup this week:

Sungjae Im ($8,900)

Im has struggled somewhat the past three weeks, but don’t let that fool you, he’s set for a big week at Muirfield Village. Im was one of the hottest golfers on the Tour before the break in play, winning the Honda Classic and coming in 3rd at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He’s accurate off the tee and 15th in scoring average this season. He averages 76.6 fantasy points per tournament on DraftKings, which is great for his middle-of-the-pack price.

Jason Dufner ($6,800)

At $6,800, Jason Dufner has incredible value for this weekend. He finished 7th here in last year’s Memorial and won the entire tournament in 2017. He has four top-25 finishes in his eight events played here and his game suits the course well. Dufner is 30th on Tour in driving accuracy, which will help him avoid those hazards around the fairways we discussed earlier. It’s been a slow start to the season for Dufner, but the Workday Charity Open could be just what he needs to turn his play around.
