Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics Player Prop Pick: Can Jayson Tatum Bounce Back in Game 2?

Tonight the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Boston Celtics for Game 2 of their series. The Celtics took Game 1 with ease so will the same happen in Game 2?

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics Game 2 Prediction

Jayson Tatum has really struggled with his shooting so far this postseason shooting just 25% from three so far. On the season he is shooting 38% and I expect some positive regression and I think it’ll come in Game 2 against the Cavs.

Coach Bickerstaff after Game 1 said, “We have to do a better job of limiting the amount of three pointers that they took…eliminating the catch and shoot threes like we talked about before. That’s where we have to be better. If they’re gonna take a bunch of pull up dribble threes, you contest em, you live with those, more than the catch and shoot ones.”

To me this sounds like the Cavs won’t be sending many doubles or helping much, especially on Tatum. Tatum takes a ton of pull up threes which is what coach Bickerstaff basically said that they’re going to live with.

Additionally, Joe Mazzulla in practice yesterday said this, “I think he’s taking really good shots, I think they’re just not falling, urge him to continue to take those and they’ll fall”

Tatum went 0-5 in Game 1 from three but with Kristaps Porzingis remaining out I’m expecting we see more volume than that especially if he’s able to get hot. He’s averaging 8.3 3PAs in games without Porzingis and has 4+ threes in 7 of the last 11 games without him. Prior to Game 1, Tatum took 9+ attempts from three in all three games against Cleveland and I think we see similar volume here. When Tatum takes 8+ attempts he has 3+ threes in 14 of his last 18 games (4+ in 13 of 18, 5+ in 8 of 18).
