NBA Parlay Picks Breakdown
Over the last two weeks, the Charlotte Hornets have won 5 of their 7 games and ranked 7th in offense and 15th in defense, placing them 7th for point differential. The Hornets have also been boosted by the return of Gordon Hayward from injury, which will give them an additional creative force on the offensive end and some much-needed veteran leadership on defense. Tonight, the Hornets will face off against the Philadelphia 76ers, who are coming off a shocking defeat at the hands of the Detroit Pistons. Perhaps the Sixers are happy with their current seeding and don't want to climb any higher in the standings, or perhaps they misjudged the level of fight in their opponents - either way, it was an embarrassing loss for a team that's supposed to be a championship contender. In the last 14 days, the Sixers have lost 4 of their 7 games and rank 21st for offensive efficiency, however, their defense sits 5th in that time span. I'm not sure the Sixers are a cohesive team right now, and that makes me nervous when backing them, which is why I'm giving the Hornets a +12 spread heading into tonight's game.
The Golden State Warriors are ranked as a bottom-five team in the league over the last two weeks, losing 6 of their last 7 games while owning the 29th ranked offense and 16th ranked defense - things aren't going to plan. Luckily, the Utah Jazz isn't fairing much better, and sit one place above the Warriors in the league's two-week rankings, have lost 5 of their last seven, and boast a bottom-five ranked defense. So, we have two teams who were dominating their opponents earlier this season, and are now struggling to keep their head above water - one is a better defensive unit, and the other is a better offensive unit. But according to the numbers, Utah's offense is marginally better than the Warriors' defense. So, without Steph Curry and James Wiseman, I have to go with the better offensive team, especially when they can call upon three-time DPOY Rudy Gobert to protect the rim. As such, I'll be giving the Warriors a +10 spread, as I don't see the result getting too out of hand.

Our final game is between the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers, and this one is interesting. The Cavaliers have been an impressive young team all season, and there's no doubt their future is bright, but in Jarrett Allen's absence, the team has struggled to see games through. Over the last two weeks, the Cavaliers have lost 5 of their 7 contests and sit in the bottom 10 for defense and offense over the same period, furthermore, the Cavaliers are -8.2 on the spread over the same period. The New York Knicks, on the other hand, have found a new lease of life, albeit too late to make a push for the playoffs. Still, the Knicks have won 4 of their last 7, and are covering their spread by an average of +3.4-points over the last two weeks. New York is also 16th in offensive rating during the last 14 days, which should be enough to give them a slight advantage tonight. Cleveland's job is looking harder due to the absence of Allen, and Evan Mobley along with their usual injury list, while the Knicks are missing Nerlens Noel, Julius Randle, Derrick Rose, Cam Reddish, and Quentin Grimes - we're going to see a scrappy game of basketball here. Still, while I do like the Knicks for this game, I'm going to back them on a +8.5 spread, just to give us some wiggle room.

Over the last two weeks, the Atlanta Hawks have been a marginally better team than the Brooklyn Nets, having won 5 of their last 7, and ranking 6th in offense and 14th in defense. The Nets, on the other hand, have gone .500 over their last 14-day stretch, and sit 12th in offense and 17th in defense. There might only be a small difference between these two teams in terms of form, but the Hawks are finding ways to win games, and that's what matters at this point in the season. Neither team has any new names on their injury report, but the Hawks will be boosted by Trae Young being listed as probable tonight, while the Nets are sweating on Bruce Brown and Seth Curry, who are both questionable to start the day. The most important thing to note here is that both rosters are defensively limited - even if the Nets did show some signs of solid defense earlier in the season. Still, Brooklyn has Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, and that has to mean something given their talent level and stature in the league. Atlanta will look to run the Nets off the court, while Brooklyn will rely on scoring and talent to take the wind out of the Hawks' sails. This game will be a close one, but I do expect the Nets to get back in the win column tonight, which is why I'm backing the Hawks on a +11 spread.

The Heat is suffering from perceived in-fighting, while the Bulls seem to have regressed to the mean over the second half of their season. In the last two weeks, the Bulls have won 4 of their 7 contest, while the Heat has lost 4 of their 6 games. Neither roster is excelling on either end of the floor, but the Bulls are a better defensive unit over the 14-day timespan. Still, Miami has a way of rising to the occasion and considering they're still the top seed in the Eastern Conference, the Heat will want to get a win tonight to keep a slight gap between them and the chasing pack. Neither team has any new injuries to report, and both are currently looking for a confidence-boosting victory. I like the Heat tonight, they're a deeper roster, have the better coach, and are first in the conference for a reason, so I'll be giving the Bulls a +9.5 spread, which covers our backs in case I'm wrong.
