Shota Imanaga had a great start to the season, but he got roughed up a bit in June. Weather was definitely a factor in this, as Shota is a fly ball pitcher and some of the games he struggled in had serious wind blowing out to center at Wrigley. After a couple rough outings, Shota will now be looking to bounce back at home against one of baseball’s best.
Luckily for Shota and the Cubs, the Phillies still won’t have many of their stars in the lineup on Wednesday. The Phillies have already been struggling against left-handed pitchers, and now they will be tasked with facing one of the most intimidating lefties in baseball coming off some brutal outings. I like Shota’s chances to bounce back against Phillies “B Team” lineup on Wednesday.
The Phillies will still have a chance to win this game even if Shota throws a gem. Zack Wheeler will be taking the mound for Philadelphia in the second game of this series, and he’s been one of the best starting pitchers in baseball this season. I’m fully expecting him to dominate this overrated Cubs lineup when he takes the mound for game two of this series in Chicago.
The total in this game opened up at 8 before sharps hammered the under down to 7.5. The odds on the under are only getting worse, so lock in this under before we see this total drop down to 7. I’m confident in both starting pitchers doing their jobs early on in this game, and I’m willing to bet against this weak Phillies lineup and overrated Cubs offense.
