Best MLB Strikeout Bets: Lock In This Expert's Best MLB Player Prop Bets for Thursday

Today's MLB slate includes seven games: three in the afternoon, another at 5:00 p.m. ET, and three more at night.

That said, there's still plenty of value on the board. So here are three strikeout props you'll want to consider for today's MLB slate.

May 9 Best MLB Strikeout Props

Marcus Stroman Under 4.5 Ks (-144) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

Marcus Stroman isn't known for getting high strikeouts. He's much better known for adding a ton of ground balls and keeping fly balls down.

Stroman still has 24.2% of strikeouts against righties. But he's facing an Astros lineup that has seven batters who have struck out less than 22% of the time against righties since last season.

Stroman really only has two targets in the Houston projected order between Joey Loperfido and Trey Cabbage. The other seven consistently put the ball in play. Therefore, we'll back Stroman's Under for strikeouts.

Tobias Myers Under 3.5 Ks (+112) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

The Brewers will pitch Tobias Myers tonight. He's a righty who has only struck out 19.6% of batters to begin the season. Myers has also allowed a .320 ISO and wOBA of .374, thanks to his .536 ISO and wOBA of .463 allowed to righties this season. The Cardinals have a balanced lineup with righties and lefties. But this projected group has struck out only 21% of the time against righties since last year. Only Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Gorman, and Ivan Herrera are strikeout targets. However, Gorman has the most power potential in the entire lineup for St. Louis. That doesn't bode well for Myers tonight.

Reid Detmers Over 5.5 Ks (+106) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

Reid Detmers will take the hill for the Angels. He's a lefty who has added 26.7% of strikeouts to begin the season. He's in line to face eight righties as a lefty and has only struck out 24.6% of righties to begin the season. However, the Royals projected lineup has struck out 22.8% of the time, with five high strikeout targets between Salvador Perez, Nelson Valezauwz, Hunter Renfroe, Dairon Blanco, and Garrett Hampson. Detmers has also held righties to a .135 ISO and wOBA of .296, so he'll likely pitch pretty deep in this game and face these targets multiple times tonight. Let's back the Over for Detmers.
