The last time the Rays faced Chris Flexen, he shoved for five scoreless innings allowing only two hits. This is a much different Rays offense now than he faced the other week. Will they get revenge on the veteran right-hander on Wednesday night, or will Flexen shut down the Rays once again?

Chris Flexen has looked much better in recent weeks than at the start of the season with his 8.78 ERA, but the Rays did just face him. That’s a significant advantage for Tampa Bay tonight in the midst of their five game win streak. Since the Rays released their City Connect uniforms and wore them on the field for the first time, they haven’t lost a game. Their confidence has returned at the plate as some of their veterans returning from injury are finally settling in.
I wouldn’t want to be fading the Rays in their City Connects, as they continue to rock them until they lose a game. Randy Arozarena and the Rays seem to have their confidence back; maybe the new threads too their minds off their offensive woes…
I’m willing to bet that the Rays offense looks much better against Flexen tonight after getting shut out against him at the end of April. The Rays offense has looked electric over the last week, and seeing the total increase from o/u 8 to o/u 8.5 at “the Trop” is a significant move. When the Rays bats are hot, you have to keep backing them. They’ll have a great matchup tonight against a team that recently swept them on the road last month. I want to back the highly-motivated Rays who’s guard won’t be let down against a team they’ve recently struggled against.
Instead of backing Tampa Bay on the runline or laying the juice on their moneyline, let’s target their F5 team total. I want to isolate their red-hot offense against a pitcher that recently burned them and has found success of late, but I’m fully expecting to regress. Chris Flexen is a sub-par major league starter who’s spent time in the KBO in recent years… the Rays will get to him the second time facing him in two weeks.
