I was surprised to see the Padres catching some steam on the road tonight against a really good lefty. They’ve struggled immensely against LHP this season, why are they a Pick ‘Em against the 21-14 Cubs? The Padres look like one of the sharpest plays on the board on Monday night’s MLB slate…
I really like the addition of Luis Arraez at the top of the Padres order post-trade. This team can flat out hit, and it won’t be as easy of a matchup for Steele as it looks on paper. The Padres are playing some inspired baseball right now after losing Soto and being one of the biggest laughing-stocks of the 2023 season. They’ve won four of their last five games but are coming off a 4-11 loss in Arizona. I like Darvish and the Padres chances to bounce back after yesterday’s beatdown.
The Padres aren’t going to hit sub-.200 against lefties all season. Law of averages should benefit San Diego in upcoming at bats against LHP. Unfortunately for Steele, that might come at his expense on Monday night. I like the way the Padres have been swinging the bat since acquiring Arraez; their lineup seems to have more life with the addition of the lefty. With the Padres catching nearly ten cents of steam, it’s looking like Arraez might lead the Padres offense in another solid performance.
Yu Darvish has great success against the Cubs in his career, his former team. Back Darvish in a revenge game on the road in this spot. Grab them on the moneyline before the odds get any longer, and don’t be surprised if the Padres go on a little run on this road trip.
