2021 Olympics Odds: Katie Ledecky Heavy Favorite To Win At Least Two Gold Medals

Katie Ledecky heads to Tokyo as the world’s most decorated freestyle winner and is without doubt one of America’s big hopes for the 2021 Olympics. This summer will be Ledecky’s third Olympics and she needs just three more gold medals to tie Jenny Thompson as the most successful female swimmer ever at the Olympics.

Katie Ledecky first broke onto the scene making history in London in 2012. She was relatively unknown at the time, but that didn’t last long! Ledecky broke the world record in the 800m freestyle .. and she hasn’t looked back since.

At the last Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, she was the most decorated woman athlete and she’s looking for more of the same in Tokyo this summer.

Ledecky will be competing in up to five more swimming categories in which she is heavy favorite to win at least two of them. One of those is the new 1500 meter freestyle, which is the first time this will be up for grabs for female swimmers.

As mentioned, this new distance is the first time that female swimmers will be able to compete at the Olympics and boy, do the oddsmakers think this will be a complete procession for Ledecky. Ledecky is not quite as strongly favored to win the 800m freestyle as she is to win the 1500m, but she’s still the most likely winner by some way according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Since 2012 (her debut at the Olympics) she has gone undefeated in the 800 meter freestyle! Her current odds to win the 800m freestyle are -370, which implies a 78.7% chance of victory.

The 400m Freestyle looks like it’s shaping up to be one of the most intriguing heats of the 2021 Olympics, with FanDuel struggling to split Ledecky and her rival Ariarne Titmus. Titmus is the slight favorite at odds of -135, whereas Ledecky is the underdog with odds of +135.

These are the longest odds for Ledecky out of any category and according to the sportsbook the least likely Gold medal opportunity for the American.
