French Open 2021 Odds: John Isner Leads the Way for Americans

John Isner is the great American hope at the French Open. At least, that’s what bettors believe. Oddsmakers have a different American hope, though Isner isn’t far behind, according to French Open 2021 odds.

French Open odds have Taylor Fritz as the best American in the field. The young Fritz is given +40000 odds, or an implied 0.2% shot to win his first major. John Isner is close behind at +50000, also an implied 0.2% chance. Rounding out the top three is rising American Riley Opelka who is given +60000 odds, again an implied 0.2%.

Bettors have a different idea though. They believe the veteran Isner is the country’s best hope at their first major since 2003. Over the last 7 days, a whopping 0.32% of bets have been placed on the big American. That’s the most of any American, and the 22nd most on the market. No other American cracks the top-30.

America isn’t the tennis capital of the world anymore, and hasn’t been for a long time. Still, it’s always interesting to track what the betting public thinks of the Americans. Seeing Isner as their favorite American isn’t a surprise in the least. Remember, Isner was the first opponent to ever take Nadal to 5 sets at Roland Garros.
