Considering the favorite for this year’s US Open is trading at +850 (best odds) it’s unsurprising that bettors are spreading their money around, however two golfers stand out as the best backed.

One of those golfers is the favorite Dustin Johnson. In the last 48 hours, DJ has accounted for 6.2% of total bets on the 2020 US Open and that’s certainly not a surprise. The world number one is the favorite this week and comes into the event off the back of a win at the Tour Championship, where he also took home the season-long FedEx Cup Championship.

FanDuel currently offer the best odds for Dustin Johnson this week at +850. That means that if you wager $100, you’d profit $850 if he comes out on top. If you wager $100 at the worst odds (+750), you’d win only $750, so a $100 difference in profit for one wager.

While DJ being well backed is certainly not a surprise, the identity of the best backed golfer for the event is somewhat a surprise to most. That man is Tommy Fleetwood, who comes into the event off of the back of a third-place finish on the European Tour and it seems bettors were encouraged enough with that performance to wager on him breaking his major-duck. He has accounted for 7.75% of total bets for the second major of the year in the last two days, the most of any man in the line-up.

Of the rest, Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele are popular with bettors accounting for 4.39% and 4.9% of total bets respectively.
