Golf Odds: More Bets Placed on Harris English to Win Charles Schwab Than Any Other Golfer
Harris English is currently the best-backed player to win the Charles Schwab Challenge, despite being 27th-favorite with the oddsmakers.
English’s current odds of +7000 – on which a winning $10 wager would net a profit of $700 – suggest an implied probability of just 1.41%.
However, bettors seem to think that those odds provide excellent value and have responded accordingly; 7% of all the bets placed on the ‘winner’ market have gone in favor of Harris, ahead of the favorite Rory McIlroy (5.64%) and outsider Jordan Spieth (5.64%).
Oddschecker spokesperson Pete Watt: “It is no surprise to see the likes of Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and John Rahm receiving significant attention from bettors – but Harris English will raise some eyebrows.
Though certainly a talented player, English has never finished higher than 15th at a major and hasn’t won a PGA Tour event since 2013. Despite this, punters have made their thoughts clear and if that activity continues, then we can expect to see those odds begin to shorten.”
