Rory McIlroy is the unanimous +1000 favorite to win the US PGA this week, according to oddsmakers

The Northern Irishman has seen his price shorten over the course of this week to climb ahead of Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka, who are all +1100.

However, Koepka is the only one of the frontrunners who is being backed en masse by bettors.

He accounts for nearly 10% of the total number of bets placed in the last week, with each of his peers receiving just 3%.

Rickie Fowler, by contrast, is as long as +2300 – but has received well over double the number of bets as those three, with just shy of 6%.

Xander Schauffele is another over-performer in the market – he’s been deemed the tenth most likely to prevail, yet is the sixth-favorite with the punters.

Oddschecker spokesperson Pete Watt: “DJ’s won the US Open and finished second at both The Masters and The Open, but the PGA hasn’t been as happy a stage for him down the years.

“His best finish here was fifth, way back in 2010, which may go some way to explain why he isn’t much fancied by the bettors – but write him off at your peril.

”It’s not surprise to see the Tiger amongst the favorites following last month’s heroics at Augusta, but only time will tell if his chances of back-to-back Majors have been over-inflated.”
