2021 Oscars Odds: Nomadland The New Favorite For Best Picture

It’s October, which means the first murmurings of ‘Oscar-Buzz’ are starting to build momentum across Hollywood. That’s certainly been the case this week with a new favorite emerging to win Best Picture with the oddsmakers.

Said film is ‘Nomadland’ which is the new favorite to win the Best Picture award at the 2021 Academy Awards; priced at 100/30 with UK bookmakers. That’s the equivalent as +333 in US odds or 23.1% as an implied percentage.

Just one month ago, odds for Nomadland were 25/1; it's been a huge move in the betting markets.

Having already won awards at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals, bettors are wagering on Chloe Zhao’s Nomadland to win the biggest prize of all in April next year. The film centers around the 2017 non-fiction book of the same name and stars Frances McDormand in the lead role.

Current odds of 100/30 will almost certainly shorten as buzz for the film gains momentum in the current months. Other early contenders include Aaron Sorkin’s ‘The Trial Of The Chicago 7’ and the highly anticipated ‘Mank’; David Fincher’s latest work.

The Trial Of The Chicago 7 7/1

Mank 8/1

At the moment, only UK bookmakers have priced up odds on the Oscars, but expect US sportsbooks to follow very soon.
