View From Across The Pond: Our friends at Oddschecker UK have discovered that the 2019 BAFTAs caused bookmakers to change odds across all the key markets, with The Favourite dominating the ceremony, gaining seven awards from 12 nominations.

This included Olivia Colman picking up the best actress gong, and that’s seen her odds for the best actress Oscar going into just +400 in places.

You could have got +700 before the ceremony but that is long gone, with 49% of total bets going on the former Peep Show and Broadchurch star to pick up another accolade this month.

Alfonso Cuaron appears to be the ‘lock’ of the night, with his odds for best director coming in all the way to -4000 in places, from -900 available yesterday morning.

Elsewhere, Roma won best picture and Rami Malek won best actor for his Freddie Mercury portrayal in Bohemian Rhapsody, and both are heavy favorites in their categories.

Oddschecker UK spokesman George Elek: “Whilst the BAFTAs provides some insight ahead of the Oscars, it's worth remembering that there is often some bias towards British nominees. That may be why Coleman's odds haven't plummeted further, but given her rising popularity in Hollywood there could be some value in that 4/1 (+400).”
