Premier League Odds: Bookmakers Predict Man United's Ole Gunnar Solskjaer To Be Sacked First

Yesterday’s embarrassing 6-1 home defeat to Tottenham has left Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fearing for this job – at least that’s what the sportsbooks think. After the heavy defeat he is now the favorite to be the first EPL manager to leave their post in the 20/21 season.

At the end of last season things were looking up for Man United and Solskjaer; they managed to finish the season well and finish in the Champions League places. They were also strongly expected to sign the much sought-after Jadon Sancho.

However, the Sancho transfer has fallen through and a disastrous start to the season has left everyone questioning Man United and their prospects for challenging Liverpool and Man City this season. They luckily beat Brighton in week 2 of the season, but have lost both other games so far in this campaign and lie a dismal 16th in the Premier League table.

Starting this season, sportsbooks certainly didn’t expect Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be the first manager to leave, he was priced at +2500 (25/1) in the market. However, these odds have tumbled since early September. He is now the favorite at odds of +145 (5/4) to leave first, this is an implied percentage chance of 44.4%.

Odds for Man United to finish in the top 4 have also drifted after this terrible start. You can now wager on United at +240 which is dramatically larger than the -300 (1/3) on offer at the start of the season.

You can also now get +5500 (55/1) on Man United winning the Premier League title. The odds for that at the start of the season were as short as +800!

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Man United now have the international break and nearly two weeks to prep for their next game. It’s going to have to be some seriously good prep, because a defeat on October 17 against Newcastle could spell the end and odds of +145 could look very generous!
