Heisman Watch: Heisman Rankings Heading into Week 15

I've acknowledged this all season. Jayden Daniels has been the best player in college football this season. So after Oregon lost its Pac-12 Championship game to Washington, Daniels quickly became the heavy favorite to win the Heisman Award. This is our final 2023 Heisman odds update of the year. The Heisman Award will be announced at 8:00 PM EST on December 9, 2023. Here's what the odds look like heading into the final week of the Heisman race.

2023 Heisman Odds

PlayerOdds
Jayden Daniels-1450
Michael Penix Jr.+1200
Bo Nix+2500
Jalen Milroe+10000
J.J. McCarthy+25000
Marvin Harrison Jr.+25000

2023 Heisman Watch

Jayden Daniels (-1450) (Bet $100 to collect $107)

A $100 wager would earn you a solid $7 of profit if Jayden Daniels wins the Heisman Award. However, if you followed the year-round, you could've gotten Daniels at much better numbers to win the Heisman Award. I was preaching Daniels to win the Heisman Award mid-way into the season when his odds were sitting around +1000. Daniels didn't play last week. But he's thrown for 3,812 yards and has 40 passing touchdowns with four interceptions. His QBR of 95.7 is the best in college football. But that's just his passing numbers. Daniels also ran for 1,134 yards and another ten touchdowns. He was the Heisman favorite all along. He's done things no Heisman quarterback has ever done. You just can't penalize him for LSU's poor defense.

Michael Penix Jr. (+1200) (Bet $100 to collect $1300)

Michael Penix Jr. is taking the Washington Huskies into the College Football Playoff with an undefeated record.

Penix Jr. threw for 4,218 yards this season. He also added 33 touchdowns and nine interceptions. However, his QBR of 93.4 is the 10th best in college football. He threw for a lot of yards. However, his interceptions were high. He also had multiple games with a completion percentage below 60% without taking more deep shots down the field than Daniels. Penix Jr. is not even close to being the second player in college football. But he certainly deserves recognition.

Bo Nix Will Still Get The Invite (+2500) (Bet $100 to collect $2600)

The Heisman House typically invites the three best players in college football to the ceremony. Bo Nix will still likely get that call to sit in a suit in New York. His name won't be called, but his season will be honored. That will only help his draft stock. Nix had the second-best QBR at 91 and probably put up better stats than Penix Jr. But he lost to Penix Jr. and Washington multiple times, so it's only fitting that Penix Jr. gets the credit over Nix.
