UCF vs. SMU Odds, Line, and Point Spread: Find Out if Golden Knights Can Cover as Favorites on Wednesday

The UCF Golden Knights and SMU Mustangs will meet on Wednesday night for an exciting American Athletic Conference contest. UCF is fresh off a win against Georgia Tech, 27-10, and now sits at 3-1 on the season. SMU started at 2-0 but has dropped their last two games and sits at 2-2 on the season. Let's dive into the UCF vs. SMU odds.

The UCF vs. SMU odds see the Knights coming into this one as a 3-point favorite at home. UCF's moneyline odds see them at -135, while SMU odds are currently +120.

UCF Golden Knights

Many were calling the UCF Golden Knights the best team in Florida when the season started and that might still be an accurate statement. They sit at 3-1 with wins over South Carolina State, Florida Atlantic, and Georgia Tech. Their lone loss of the season was to an ACC opponent in Louisville, 20-14.

Both sides of the football have been playing well for UCF as they currently average 34.25 points per game and have given up only 13.5. They rank in the top 20 in the nation with 482.5 yards per game.

John Rhys Plumlee, the two-sport UCF star, has run the offense at a high level this season. Plumlee has thrown for 827 yards on 117 attempts with five touchdowns. On top of that, he's rushed for 100 or more yards in three of the first four games of the season.

SMU Mustangs

Everything seemed to be going well for SMU throughout the first two weeks of the season. They had two easy wins over North Texas and Lamar, showing the ability to beat teams that they're clearly better than.

Things started to take a turn for the worse during the last two weeks as they fell to Maryland and TCU. TCU and Maryland are two Power 5 programs that have found success to start the season, but SMU was hopeful that they could win at least one of those games.

Reports have come out that multiple players on SMU are refusing to play for the rest of the season and are pondering the idea of entering the transfer portal. The names of the players haven't all been announced, but we should find out if any key players will go this route on Wednesday night. Either way, it's obvious that something is brewing down at SMU and could hinder the way that the Mustangs perform.

UCF vs. SMU Betting Pick

The UCF vs. SMU odds could be a bit strange at the moment because many are uncertain about what's going on down in Texas. However, instead of worrying about that, we're going to go with UCF to cover the 3-point spread. They have an opportunity of getting their first win of the season in the American Athletic Conference and with the prior success that UCF has found against the Mustangs, it feels like a great time to back them.

SMU won the last contest that these two played, but UCF still holds the all-time series lead, 8-2. I think this UCF squad is one of the better that we've seen throughout the past few seasons and Wednesday night is a good time for them to show that.
