Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler Odds: 55% of bets on McGregor to Win his Return to the Octagon at UFC 303

Conor McGregor will make his return to the octagon on June 29 to face Michael Chandler in UFC 303.

Of course, the fighting world is excited to see McGregor back in the octagon. He's the most popular UFC fighter of all time. However, realistically, McGregor hasn't fought in the UFC in a couple of years and hasn't even won a UFC fight since 2020, when he knocked out Donald Cerrone.

Furthermore, McGregor has fought in the octagon just three times since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018. It's hard to see a place where McGregor actually comes out on top. However, bettors are seemingly living in the past, with over 55% of bets on McGregor to defeat Chandler at UFC 303.

Conor McGregor (55.56%)

Conor McGregor is on a two-fight losing streak with multiple losses to Dustin Poirier. He hasn't fought since July 10, 2021, after he injured his leg severely in that fight against Poirier.

McGregor quickly moved up the rankings in 2023 with wins that included a three-round decision against Mac Holloway. He also went on a five-match streak with knockouts starting in 2024 to 2025 against Diego Brandao, Poirier, Dennis Siver, Chad Mendes, and Jose Aldo, which was his most famous knockout.

After his win against Aldo, he was submitted by Nate Diaz but rematched him and won by a majority decision in 2016. After that, he added a knockout against Eddie Alvarez but was ultimately never the same after Nurmagomedov defeated him by submission. It all got to his head. Since then, he's lost three of his last four fights.

However, as suggested earlier, the public is holding onto the past, hoping he can fight like himself again.

Michael Chandler (44.44%)

On the other hand, Michael Chandler has also lost three of his last four fights. Chandler's last fight came against Poirier, where he lost by submission in the third round.

Chandler also won against Tony Ferguson before that but lost to other big names like Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje before his knockout of Ferguson.

Chandler made his UFC debut in 2021 after he knocked out Benson Henderson in Bellator 243.

However, in the UFC, Chandler is just 2-3. He'll be more prepared and comfortable early. The best portion of this fight will be the build-up between all the trash-talking going on.

While the public money is on McGregor, the line movement has favored Chandler for this UFC 303 headliner.
