Jonathan Martinez vs. Jose Aldo Odds, Date, How to Watch, and Predictions for UFC 301

Looking for Jonathan Martinez vs. Jose Aldo odds? We got you covered!

The UFC returns to the country that helped build the sport on Saturday for the 11th time, as Rio de Janeiro, Brazil will play host to a terrific evening of fights. In the main event, the flyweight strap will be on the line, as Aussie Steve Erceg tries to take it from current champ Alexandre Pantoja.

Just before then, however, the bantamweight king of Brazil will make his return to the octagon, as Jose Aldo takes on the up-and-coming Jonathan Martinez in the co-main event. Let’s take a deeper look at both fighters, where the odds market has landed, and who I like to walk away from this on victorious.

Jonathan Martinez vs. Jose Aldo UFC 301 Prediction

Jonathan Martinez (19-4-0)

Despite the relative lack of name recognition, Martinez has been fighting in the UFC since 2018, and since going 2-2 over his first four fights, has now rattled off six straight wins coming into Saturday. The last time we saw him in the octagon was in October, beating Adrian Yanez via a second-round leg kick for his second inside-the-distance victory in three fights.

Jose Aldo (31-8-0)

After losing three straight fights from 2019 into 2020, Aldo bounced back with three wins over Marlon Vera, Pedro Munhoz, and Rob Font to finish 2021. Since then, we’ve seen him just once, a decision loss to Merab Dvalishvili in August 2020, as Aldo has chosen instead to focus on boxing with three matches in 2023.

Jonathan Martinez vs. Jose Aldo Pick

At this level, and even more so at his age, a fighter needs to be active to maintain his skill at the highest level. Having not seen him in an octagon for more than 600 days, Aldo has been anything but, and I expect that to show through poorly for him on Saturday.

Pick: Jonathan Martinez (-162) at DraftKings Sportsbook
