Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier Odds: Bettors Backing McGregor Heavily In UFC 257

It will have been well over a year since we’ve seen Conor McGregor in a UFC fight when he enters the octagon to face Dustin Poirier on January 23 at UFC 257.

All eyes will be on The Notorious in what will be only his second UFC fight since December 2016.

His last fight, on January 18, 2020, ended with a first-round TKO over Donald Cerrone after a vicious shoulder strike left Cowboy dazed. That came after McGregor’s last loss on October 6, 2018 against Khabib Nurmagomedov via a fourth-round submission.

It’s hard for analysts to know exactly what to make of McGregor in this fight, but the sportsbooks are aligned that he’s definitely the favorite. You can currently bet on McGregor at best odds of -235, that’s a 70.1% implied percentage, whereas Dustin Poirier can be backed at odds of +225 (9/4 in fractional odds).

Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier Betting Data

Despite not seeing Conor McGregor very often in the Octagon in recent years, bettors have been betting on him heavily to come out on top against Poirier.

McGregor defeated Poirier with a first-round TKO at UFC 178 in September of 2014 after catching Poirier with a well-placed left before finishing him off with a furry of strikes and bettors are counting on something similar happening in January. In the past 7 days, 75.57% of bets on the betting market have been on McGregor to win; that’s a huge majority. If this activity continues in the build up to the fight, you can expect the odds on McGregor to drop even further.
