UFC 285 Breakdown

All eyes will be on Jon Jones this weekend as he finally returns to the octagon. It has been over THREE years since this star fighter has taken the ring. This is huge news and a reason on its own to tune into the fight card. Jones will take on Ciryl Gane to compete for the heavyweight championship at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jon is a former light heavyweight champ, so his competing at the heavyweight level will be a spectacle for us viewers.

Ciryl Gane, on the other hand, does not have the same level of fame that Jones has. It's not to say that he's not a talented fighter because he is. Gane's defeated Tai Tuivasa, Derrick Lewis, and Junior dos Santos, and only has one loss on his fighting resume. At the age of 32, Ciryl is a big body, measuring 6'4 and weighing 247 pounds. Jones usually weighs in at the 205-pound mark.

While the excitement of UFC 285 is primarily around Jones vs. Gane, there are still a handful of excellent fights lined up. The prelim card features an intriguing list of fighters, including Cody Garbrandt and Trevin Jones, competing in the bantamweight division. Former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt should be in store to add another win to his resume, as Trevin Jones is not as strong of a fighter.

Before the prelim card begins, the early prelims will go down starting at 5:30 p.m. ET. Ian Machado Garry and Kenan Song will meet in the ring first for the welterweight division. Garry, who has a perfect MMA career, will not have an easy road to victory Saturday. Song holds an 18-5 MMA record and has been in the UFC for six years now. Can Garry keep his win streak?

Let's take a closer look at who's heading into the ring before the main event goes off.
