The Baylor Bears are the number two team in the country. They sit at 18-0, one of just two undefeated teams left in the country. They’ve not only beaten all challengers, they’ve blown them out. Of their 18 games, only three were by single digits. The first two were tough games against ranked opponents Texas Tech and Kansas. The other, a five-point win over Iowa State after not playing for three weeks due to COVID-19. Baylor ran through the likes of Texas and Oklahoma, beating the pair by a combined 29 points.

The only competition that they have left in the conference is West Virginia. They had been scheduled to play each other three different times this season before cancelations ruined it. West Virginia is currently second in the BIG 12, the 10th ranked team in the country, and the oddsmakers’ second favorite to win the BIG 12 at +600.

The gap between Baylor at -167 and West Virginia at +600 is a large one. Still, it’s worth asking if it’s wide enough. -167 odds only imply a 62.5% chance that Baylor wins the BIG 12 tournament. Sure, that makes them a huge favorite, but those odds seem long for a team as dominant as Baylor.

The Bears haven’t come close to dropping a game this season. They’ve dominated one of the toughest conferences in the NCAA this year. It’s hard to see anyone standing in Baylor’s way of winning the BIG 12 this year. That’s only reinforced by the fact that no other team in the BIG 12 has less than 4 losses in conference play.

Baylor is the clear favorites to win the conference that’s for sure. Still, it’s worth wondering if they aren’t being sold a little short given how strong they’ve been this year.
