2023 NBA 3-Point Contest: Odds and Prediction

The 2023 NBA 3-Point Contest will take place on Saturday, February 18, at 8:00 p.m. EST in Salt Lake City, Utah. With the Celebrity Game, the Skills Challenge, the Rising Stars competition, the Slam Dunk Contest, and the 3-Point Contest, this will be one basketball-filled weekend. The 3-Point Contest will be filled with big-name stars. This list of participating players includes Tyrese Haliburton, Tyler Herro, Buddy Hield, Kevin Huerter, Damian Lillard, Lauri Markkanen, Julius Randle, and Jayson Tatum.

With the time increased to 70 seconds, there will be plenty to see. This is the perfect time for these players to prove their accuracy and talents. So what should we expect to see this weekend during the 3-Point Contest?

Buddy Hield of the Indiana Pacers is the strong favorite from oddsmakers. So far this season, Hield has made 224 three-point shots and is averaging 3.8 3-pointers per game. The 30-year-old dominates every player in the league in three-pointers, so it's no surprise to see him as the clear-cut favorite. Aside from Hield, Damian Lillard and Jayson Tatum are close contenders. Lillard ranks sixth in career 3-pointers made and has made 191 three-point shots this year. Tatum falls just a handful of three-pointers behind at 183. The four-time NBA All-Star will make his second NBA 3-Point Contest appearance.

Let's check out the latest 2023 NBA 3-Point contest odds.

NBA 3-Point Contest Odds

PlayerOdds
Buddy Hield+460
Damian Lillard+550
Jayson Tatum+600
Lauri Markkanen+600
Kevin Huerter+650
Tyler Herro+700
Tyrese Haliburton+750

As we can see from the NBA 3-Point Contest odds, sportsbooks firmly believe Buddy Hield will win this contest. Comparing his stats among his competitors, it makes sense. Seeing Damian Lillard take the next spot also makes a lot of sense based on his stats and how he plays.

Every single one of these players competing is an excellent shooter. Lauri Markkanen sits in ninth in 3-point makes this season, completing 164. The 7-foot forward is shooting a .412 from beyond the arc, which is his career best and the second-highest of all of his opponents this weekend.

While all of these shooters are top-notch, let's break down my NBA 3-Point Contest odds.

NBA 3-Point Contest Prediction

This contest screams Lillard to me. After playing in just 29 games last season, the 32-year-old has been on a tear and is averaging 31.2 points per game, his career high. The Trail Blazer ranks fourth in the entire league for field-goals per game.

At +550 odds, this is an incredible value. Even by placing a $10 bet on Lillard to win, you'd collect $65. This is Damian's third time playing in the NBA 3-Point Contest and he is yet to win. He's going to be hungry for this award.

Although Buddy Hield is at the top of the league in 3-pointers, Lillard will be coming in with a different type of momentum. Between Damian and all the other stars participating Saturday, this is going to be an entertaining night.
