Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves - NLCS

It took a while for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ bats to wake up, but the team put on a show in Wednesday night’s NLCS Game 3, reminding everyone why they finished the regular season with the best record in baseball.

The Dodgers homered five times and finished with 16 hits in a lopsided 15-3 win over the Atlanta Braves. 11 of those 15 runs came in the first inning, a MLB postseason record, and all 15 runs came in the first three innings.

The Dodgers seem to have woken up, but what does this mean for the betting public? Predictably, LA has been the most popular World Series pick in the last 24 hours, by a fairly large margin.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves - World Series Odds

The Dodgers have had lofty expectations since the beginning of the shortened 2020 MLB season. Prior to Opening Day, LA was the favorite to win the World Series at +380 and also tied with the Yankees for the highest win total over/under (37.5 games).

Now, just a few days away from the World Series and trailing the Braves, 2-1, the Dodgers’ odds to win it all have actually gotten longer. As of Thursday, they’re +400 to win the World Series.

Seeing as their odds in October are now more favorable for bettors than they were this summer, the betting public is jumping on the chance to get LA at a great price, especially after last night.

In the last 24 hours, 57.14% of all World Series futures bets have been on the Dodgers. That makes them almost three times as popular as the second most backed team in that time span (Tampa Bay – 21.43%).

In comparison, the Braves, despite holding a 2-1 lead over LA, only have 11.2% of all World Series futures bets on them since last night. In terms of a National League pennant, the betting is even more lopsided as 75% of all bets are on the Dodgers to win the NL (+100).
