World Series Odds: Yankees The Most-Backed Team to Win World Series
It’s finally here. This week, for the first time in 266 days, meaningful MLB games will be played, starting with the Washington Nationals hosting the New York Yankees on Thursday.
Bettors have been all over the Yankees this summer, with 86% of bets backing New York to go over their 37.5-game win total in the 60-game season.
But it doesn’t stop there, they’re also backing the Yankees to win it all.
As of Sunday, 13.25% of bets since June 1 are behind the Yankees to win the 2020 World Series, which is first in the MLB.
The Toronto Blue Jays and San Francisco Giants are the second-most popular pick with 10.84% of bettors backing them.
The Blue Jays will be in a peculiar situation this year. The city of Toronto announced this weekend that they wouldn’t permit the team to play games in the city, forcing them to look for a new home in 2020.
The Giants will also be in action on Thursday, traveling to Los Angeles to play the Dodgers on Opening Day.
The Dodgers also have lofty expectations. Their season win total number is 37.5 games, tied with the Yankees for the highest mark in the league.
