Coming back from the recent suspension in play due to the coronavirus pandemic has been a wild ride for Major League Baseball.

At times, it felt like a lost cause with players and owners at opposite ends of the table. But, to both side’s credit, they got the deal done on Tuesday, reaching an agreement to start an abbreviated season in July.

The regular season will consist of just 60 games, down from the usual 162. Players will report to camp on July 1, with Opening Day scheduled for July 24.

With the news of baseball’s return came a massive influx in betting on the World Series champion market, and fans around the world seem to think that last season’s AL champs, the Houston Astros, are headed toward their second World Series title in the last four years.

19.39% of all wagers in the World Series champion market have backed the Astros (+800). Those +800 odds mean oddsmakers are giving them an 11.1% chance of winning a ring in 2020.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the favorite to win it all this year at +380. The Yankees (+400) aren’t far behind. LA has been backed by 8.16% of bettors, while the 11.22% of bets in the market have come in on the Yankees.

13.27% of bettors, the second most of any team, are betting on last year’s champion Washington Nationals, at +1800.
