TIGER BAY QUEEN hasn't run since winning a Listed bumper in April 2023 and is fragile, but her novice status might have been preserved for this fresh new season, which is encouraging. She has clearly had training issues and indeed returned from 436 days off to win at Fairyhouse, but is just a six-year-old and can do well over hurdles. Russellsbelle has a race-fitness edge and ran well at Tramore recently. She will be suited by drying ground and today she again receives weight from previous winners, but should struggle to beat an on-song selection. Smiling Bess is out of a Grade 1-placed mare and while her recent form is on testing ground, has form on yielding.
Prediction : 1st Tiger Bay Queen 2nd Russellsbelle 3rd Smiling Bess

NEW YORK STYLE is a lightly-raced seven-year-old who returns from a 147-day absence, but has shown enough to suggest she can win this ordinary maiden. Runner-up on bumper debut in October 2022 before missing 378 days, she ran well in a useful Naas maiden in December (from which the winner was subsequently Listed-placed and the fifth later won) and a reproduction would give her every chance. Fairyland Opera is a granddaughter of the high-class Opera Hat and while beaten 22 lengths on her maiden hurdle debut, should progress. Bumper winner Cash The Cheque debuts for a new yard and has useful form on good ground, but returns from a winter break and carries a penalty.
Prediction : 1st New York Style 2nd Fairyland Opera 3rd Cash The Cheque

MILK MARKET ran well having stepped up to this distance for the first time at Bellewstown last month and should compete from just 3lb higher. He had previously run well at two miles at Limerick last October, but his most recent run offered more encouragement and drying ground should also suit. Oneforgonzo has himself shown good form over staying distances and while he is 9lb higher than when winning here last month, could continue to progress further, although his best form is on easy ground. Hunting Brook finished fifth behind the selection at Bellewstown last month but wasn't beaten far and won two similar handicaps last November, albeit on soft ground, with first-time blinkers applied today.
Prediction : 1st Milk Market 2nd Oneforgonzo 3rd Hunting Brook

KNOW THE GAME has won just once from 19 career runs, but that sole win was gained at this distance and he ran well at Limerick recently. He is largely dependable in this sphere and having been beaten just a nose by Freddie Robdal at Tramore in April 2023, is 6lb better off. Freddie Robdal has a similar profile, being ground-versatile and suited by this distance, and should again compete as he is in form. Heavy-ground three-time winner Pana To Milan's only previous attempts racing on a sound surface were in maiden hurdles in 2022 and while she disappointed on her latest run, she is interesting racing on a different surface and has winning distance form.
Prediction : 1st Know The Game 2nd Freddie Robdal 3rd Pana To Milan

EASY FELLA won twice in staying hurdles last season, including on his first start for Henry de Bromhead at Thurles in December, and was subsequently second to the long odds-on High Class Hero. He looks an exciting recruit to fences. Slip Of The Tongue has plenty of experience over fences, but was well beaten in handicaps on both outings earlier this year, while Jasmin De Cotte and Varna Gold both made promising starts over fences last time. The latter had Nine Graces behind when third to the selection's stablemate Music Of Tara at this venue last month, but Barry Connell's mare was challenging when making a bad mistake two out and looks a greater threat. Prairie Dancer is another to consider.
Prediction : 1st Easy Fella 2nd Nine Graces 3rd Prairie Dancer

DON'T MATTER NOW has been prolific between the flags, winning all four of his completed starts for Noel Kelly since November, and has rejoined Declan Queally since beating De Nordener at Ballyragget in March. The Terence O'Brien yard continues in good form and Con's Roc rates a threat. The Shirocco gelding has won both point-to-point outings this year and may pose more of a danger than D'jo Dela Barriere, who was third to Loughglynn in a Punchestown maiden hurdle last November but has failed to score in four point starts since. The form of Grange Soldier's win at Belharbour has been given a boost, and the booking of Barry O'Neill is certainly a plus.
Prediction : 1st Dont Matter Now 2nd Cons Roc 3rd Grange Soldier

19:40 Tipperary

MA BESS won a point-to-point at Dromahane last spring and has shown plenty of promise in bumpers since, including when beating all bar hot favourite Ivana in an 18-runner Limerick event. The Terence O'Brien-trained mare appears versatile in terms of ground conditions and also put in a creditable effort when fourth to Aurora Vega in a Listed bumper at Gowran last autumn. Jasmine D'airy has filled the runner-up spot on both point-to-point outings this year for Sam Curling, and Derek O'Connor is a significant booking. Miss Penny Copper and Wyoming Baby both won last time between the flags and are others to consider.
Prediction : 1st Ma Bess 2nd Jasmine Dairy 3rd Miss Penny Copper

20:10 Tipperary

JACKSTELL was placed on both point-to-point starts for Denis Murphy before joining current connections for 70,000 pounds in December. He was third on debut at Ballycrystal in a race that has thrown up a couple of subsequent winners and it will be interesting to see how strong he is in the market here. Block Rockin Beats has joined Terence O'Brien since beating Milo Miller at Castlelands in March and the runner-up has gone one better since. Kerlogue won his only point start at Punchestown in February, while Mic Drop and Val Venus are others to consider having also scored between the flags last time. Norr's Cross has been let down by his jumping in two point starts this year.
Prediction : 1st Jackstell 2nd Block Rockin Beats 3rd Kerlogue
