Nathan Hunt is one of the leading greyhound trainers in the country. In his latest column, which is published weekly on the Oddschecker website and social media channels, he has his team in cracking form with three winners already this week and looks ahead to a busy time this weekend, whilst also analysing tonight’s St Leger final at Perry Barr.

The team are in great form and we have plenty of chances at Romford on Friday

I couldn’t be happier with how things are going at the moment and the team really seem to be flying. We’ve got three runners at Romford on Friday night starting with Newlawn News in the opening contest (6.09pm). He was an impressive winner last time out on his return from injury, scoring by four and a quarter-lengths. He’s come out of that race really well and hopefully there is more to come from him on Friday night.

Florican Trend runs in the second race of the evening (6.28pm) and was very impressive when scoring by six lengths last time out. She looks to have a really good draw given the dog drawn on the inside of her doesn’t show much early so we are hopeful of a big run. She is progressing all the time.

Kooga Keira runs in the opening heat of the Mitch Millward Marathon. We’ve only had her for a few weeks but she trialled on Wednesday. She looks to be in a tough heat taking on the likes of Bubbly Cristal and Micks Little Gem. However, she has a good draw and we’re hopeful that she can get a good run round. She needs to prove that she can stay 750m as this is her first go over this trip but I’m hopeful that she will stay.

Roxholme Kristof looks like an aeroplane in the St Leger

I’ve enjoyed watching the St Leger at Perry Barr. It is a very prestigious competition with a prize fund of £10,000 up for grabs. The final of the competition takes place at 9.10pm on Thursday and I think Roxholme Kristof is the one to beat. It looks like a really good final, but he looks the class act in the race having impressed in both of his heats.

I also have runners at Hove on Saturday, whilst I have two nice puppies who are nearly ready to run

The Coral Olympic Trial Stakes start at Hove on Saturday where we run Paradise Prince in the 7.56pm. He ran really well last week in the heats for the Coral Essex Vase and was the fastest dog to get eliminated from the competition. We want to try him in this trial event before the Olympic competition gets underway next month. I was pleased with that effort as it shows he retains his ability and hopefully there is more to come here.

The Brighton Belle competition is coming up shortly and Ballyard Hilary could run in that. She is a sister to Ballyard Ricki who is one of the most exciting dogs we have in the kennel currently. She is going to trial at the track and she is also up for syndication so if you fancy getting involved, let us know.

I also mentioned two other puppies last week who I’m really excited about. Brightside Nick and Ballinakill Echo will both be ready to run shortly and will take part in some trials. We are thinking about a puppy competition with them before maybe looking at the Puppy Derby but they are two exciting talents for coming weeks.

Finally, Grays Cup Winner was one of recent victors winning in nice style in a trial for the National Sprint at Nottingham on Monday. He will have a couple of weeks off now as that was first win in around 12 months but he ran really well and then will return there for the competition proper.

The British Bred Derby also gets underway next Tuesday and we will have two runners in that event at Sheffield. Aerorackitup is in cracking form and will go there along with Binsky Bruce. It’s over 500m and is a Category One competition which we like to support.
