Premier League Darts Night 12

Seven-time Premier League Darts champion Darts Michael van Gerwen made a much-needed return to winning ways last week by bagging his fourth nightly success in Birmingham, ending Luke Littler’s winning run with a 6-3 victory in the final.

As things stand, just four points separates Mighty Mike in third place from league leader Littler as we get set to enter the home stretch of the regular league season.

With newfound momentum on his side, can van Gerwen make it back-to-back weekly wins in front of his home fans?

Premier League Darts Predictions for Night 12

After falling short in last week’s final, Luke Littler is expected to get back up and running against Michael Smith in what should be a heavy scoring start to the evening.

The playoff places are slipping out of sight for both Rob Cross and Gerwyn Price so a nail-biting final leg may be required to separate two players who are in desperate need of points.

Nathan Aspinall failed to reach the semi-final stage for the first time in five weeks last Thursday so he will be targeting rock-bottom Peter Wright as a route to get back on track.

Michael van Gerwen will be hoping to feed off the backing from a raucous home crowd and that could swing the balance in the Dutchman’s favour when he goes up against World Champion Luke Humphries.

Who is the favourite for the Premier League Darts tonight?

Despite failing to land a weekly win since Night 8, Luke Humphries is the 5/2 favourite on Ladbrokes to rule in Rotterdam.

Humphries will need to dig deep to handle a hostile crowd if he is to overcome Michael van Gerwen, who will be returning to his homeland in high spirits after triumphing in Birmingham last Thursday.

With the guarantee that either MVG or Cool Hand Luke will be condemned to an early exit, league leader Luke Littler looks the value option at 11/4 (Ladbrokes) to bank the five point bounty.

Premier League Darts Tips for Night 12

Michael Smith +3.5 vs Luke Littler & Peter Wright +2.5 vs Nathan Aspinall @ 19/20 Sky Bet

Michael Smith has looked solid rather than spectacular across the opening 11 weeks and I’m backing the Bully Boy with a +3.5 start against Luke Littler as the first leg of a 19/20 double on Sky Bet.

Smith is in the thick of the hunt for a playoff place and he does have a good record against Littler, winning three of the previous four meetings between the pair in this year’s Premier League.

Whilst the Nuke is capable of blowing any opponent away, I’m prepared to side with the underdog here on the handicap.

Meanwhile, Peter Wright can also be backed on the handicap with a +2.5 start in his clash with Nathan Aspinall.

Snakebite, despite having just two wins to his name in this year’s Premier League, has been steadily improving throughout the campaign and he can get at least four legs on the board against the Asp, a feat he has achieved in eight of the last nine nights’ of action.

All Four Quarter-Finals Over 9.5 Legs @ 16/1 on Betfair

The 16/1 on Betfair for all four quarter-final ties to feature Over 9.5 legs looks well worthy of a long shot glance. A case could be made for all eight arrowsmiths in their respective openers and I suspect all four games could be competitive enough to see at least 10 legs of darts.
