There is a clear bookmakers' favourite to win the 2000 Guineas after 14 remained at the confirmation stage.
City Of Troy has long been the big favourite to win the 2000 Guineas since landing last year's Dewhurst Stakes by 3 1/2 lengths from Alyanaabi.
The Dewhurst is Britain's most prestigious race for juvenile horses, with winners invariably becoming major contenders for the following season's classic races.
While he will undoubtedly prove hard to beat as an odds on favourite (best price 4/6), Aidan O’Brien has had the likes of Auguste Rodin (13/8), Ten Sovereigns (9/4) and Air Force Blue (4/5) all beaten at short odds in the past decade.
2000 Guineas Odds
Runner | Best Odds | Bookmaker |
---|---|---|
City Of Troy | 4/6 | Sky Bet |
Rosallion | 9/2 | bet365 |
Notable Speech | 10/1 | William Hill |
Alyanaabi | 16/1 | BetMGM |
Night Raider | 16/1 | bet365 |
Ghostwriter | 16/1 | William Hill |
The second favourite Rosallion (9/2 bet365) is the big British hope for Richard Hannon but preference for Steve Ryder goes to Task Force (tipped at 16/1) who did well to perform with credit over 6f on three starts last season.
The impeccably bred colt is by Frankel (2011 winner of the 2000 Guineas) and out of Special Duty (2010 1000 Guineas winner) who on pedigree should be appreciating a step up in trip this year.
