The former Wolves manager has jumped to the top of the betting market.
Julen Lopetegui has replaced Ruben Amorim at the head of the next West Ham manager odds market, should the Hammers relieve David Moyes of his duties this summer.
The Spaniard, now 57, spent less than nine months in charge at Wolves from November 2022, winning 10 of his 27 matches at a win rate of 37%.
The Molineux club were bottom of the Premier League when he arrived but finished in a creditable 13th place, avoiding relegation by seven points.
Having reportedly left due to the club’s financial situation, he was replaced just before the start of this season by former Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil, who has led the team to 12th place in the Premier League with four matches remaining.
Lopetegui spent the largest part of his managerial career with Sevilla (June 2019 to October 2022), winning 90 of his 170 matches and landing the 2019/20 Europa League.
He is perhaps best known for his controversial time as coach of Spain, who dismissed him just one day after learning that he would take charge of Real Madrid after the 2018 World Cup.
He subsequently won just six of his 14 matches in charge of Los Blancos, including a 5-1 defeat in El Clasico, before being replaced by Santiago Solari.
