Kobbie Mainoo is now expected to make Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad after impressing against Belgium.
In the wake of an outstanding performance during his inaugural start for England, bookmakers have significantly reduced Kobbie Mainoo’s odds of securing a spot in England’s 23-man Euro 2024 squad.
Before his inclusion in the squad last week, Mainoo's odds of making the cut stood at 5/4. However, they have since undergone a substantial decrease to 2/7.
Converting those odds into implied probability, Mainoo’s prospects of making the squad have improved from 44.4% to 77.8%.
These odds represent a remarkable campaign for Mainoo, who had been as big as 20/1 (equivalent to a 4.8% implied chance) to make the squad in December.
Barring any unforeseen injuries or a decline in performance at Manchester United for the remainder of the season, the bookies are seeing Mainoo as a lock for the 23-man roster.
Another player who’s improved their chances of making the team following the recent friendly matches is Brentford striker Ivan Toney.
Toney’s odds have been cut from 11/8 to 4/6 after his scoring performance last night, elevating his implied probability from 42.1% to 60%.
According to an Oddschecker X poll, 65.4% of voters would rather take Ivan Toney to the Euros than Ollie Watkins.
Provided below is the projected 23-man squad, based on the average bookmakers’ odds.

Quote from Oddschecker’s Leon Blackman: “Kobbie Mainoo’s remarkable breakout season continues as he put in another classy performance in his full England debut vs Belgium on Tuesday night.
"Since joining the England squad for the first time last week, bookmakers have continued to shorten his odds of making England’s Euro 2024 squad in June. Having been a 20/1 outsider in December, Mainoo is now priced at 2/7 to secure one of the 23 spots for Germany.
"Converting those odds into implied probability, Mainoo’s chances of making the squad have surged from 4.8% in December to 77.8% as of Wednesday morning.”
